B.C. Alumni Network Event

It has been decided that the B.C. Alumni Network will be officially launched once in each country that the Premier visits. November 30th saw the launch of the Network in Hong Kong, and events in Seoul and Beijing have created the opportunity for two new launches in the upcoming months.

1) Korea, Tuesday, May 20

The May 20th alumni event in Seoul, Korea, during the Premier's Mission, is now going to be open to all post-secondary alumni, and not just universities as originally envisaged.

We will have an invitation ready to forward to the institutions and to be sent out by the institutions in early April, with a local Seoul contact address for RSVPs.

2) Beijing, Friday May 23 and Friday June 27

Please note there are now two events in Beijing.

It has been decided that the B.C. Alumni Network will take advantage of the Premier's presence in Beijing to officially launch there as well, on the evening of Friday, May 23. The Premier will be on hand for the official opening of the B.C.-Canada Pavilion the previous day. Alumni from all B.C. institutions will be invited.

Note that we are still proceeding with the Friday, June 27 alumni event, as these late June dates are when most of our post-secondary institutions will be in attendance. As such, invitations for both events (May 23 and June 27) will go out simultaneously and people will be asked to choose one or both and to RSVP appropriately for both. We will be using a local Beijing provider as a contact address for RSVPs.

We will differentiate the two events by suggesting that May 23 is a chance to meet the Premier and dignitaries from B.C. and that June 27 is a chance to meet with people from "your alma mater". It will also be possible to invite select partners to the June 27 event. We anticipate a good turnout for both.
