BBC Visits VIU's Museum of Natural History

BBC6On Thursday August 20th,2009 British TV Channel BBC was at the VIU Museum of Natural History filming some of the specimens from the museum collection for for their children's wildlife series "The Deadly 60".

The host of the show, Steve Backshall (The Really Wild Show, Expedition Borneo, Springwatch Tracker), enthusiastically gives a close up view of some of the world's most fascinating creatures in their natural environment.

After 6 successful shows featuring wildlife from South Africa, Australia, Malaysia, India, Europe and South America, the crew arrived in Vancouver to start filming for their North American segment. BBC 2They came directly to VIU to film skulls of some of North Americas largest mammals (sea lions, bears, killer whales) before heading up island to get some footage of these animals in the wild. The crew from BBC were impressed with the wide variety of skulls we had and offered a donation for their use.
