About the Museum of Natural History
The Museum of Natural History has been at the current facility since the summer of 1976. (opened fall of 1977)

The museum provides services in the areas of:
- Supporting collections-based research for students and faculty.
- Providing for collections-based teaching (we provide materials for over 10 different courses in over 4 different departments).
- Sending and receiving specimens on loan and in exchange for research.
- Replying to external inquiries about specimen holdings for research and consulting.
- Providing a research resource for local and regional researchers.
- Providing independent study opportunities for students.
- Supporting community outreach programs with students of all ages.
