Description:

This three-day comprehensive classroom-based course will provide participants with in-depth knowledge and skills required to design and develop prescriptions for Erosion & Sediment control (ESC) initiatives. Course participants will learn to integrate ESC Best Management Practices into prescription development processes by completing a number of case studies and practical exercises. The course content and case studies will uphold standard ESC practices and procedures as endorsed by the International Erosion Control Association ® (IECA).

Objective:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key steps in choosing and selecting appropriate ESC Best Management Practices.
  • Identify key prescription development considerations: scheduling and staging, construction boundaries, responsible parties, awareness training, role of ESC professionals.
  • Identify key prescription development considerations for developing runoff control, erosion control, sediment control prescriptions
  • Identify key factors affecting BMP selection, installation and maintenance
  • Implement a structured and standard approach to developing ESC prescriptions

Prerequisites:

None, although successful completion of the NREP Erosion & Sediment Control course or five years of prior ESC field experience is highly recommended.

You Supply:

Your NREP Erosion & Sediment Control course manual (copies will be supplied for participants who did not complete the initial ESC course), calculator, ruler and pencil. A manual will be provided for this course.
