Description:

A two-day applied introduction to standard techniques for effluent and ambient water quality sampling. Participants will learn standard freshwater sampling quality assurance measures, as well as spend considerable time in field and lab-based sessions learning to operate various types of sampling equipment.

Objective:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify quality assurance measures;
  • Identify sampling locations;
  • Develop safety plans;
  • Conduct field filtration and preservation;
  • Recording field notes and identifying chain of custody; and
  • Conduct water quality sampling using (and calibrating) field meters and other types of sampling equipment.

Prerequisites:

No formal prerequisites exist.

You Supply:

Chestwaders, appropriate field clothing, and classroom supplies. Course manuals and field equipment will be provided.
