Description:
This
two-day comprehensive classroom-based course will provide participants with
in-depth knowledge and skills required to design and develop a structured
water quality monitoring program. Course participants will complete and participate
in a number of case studies and exercises to reinforce the principles introduced
in the classroom. The case studies will uphold current British Columbia provincial
and federal legislation and best management practices for monitoring program
design.
Objective:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify and define water quality terms critical to effective study design
- Define the main principles in the design of effluent sampling programs and ambient fresh water quality monitoring programs
- Contrast and define a variety of potential program designs
- Develop study designs for a wide variety of applications
Prerequisites:
No formal prerequisites exist. However, successful completion of Freshwater Sampling Methods or prior field sampling experience is highly recommended.
