Biological Sampling Procedures
Description:
A one-half day practical review of standard biological sampling procedures common to fisheries projects in Western Canada. Participants learn to uses calibrate and maintain standard biological sampling equipment, as well as collect biological data, collect and interpret salmonid ageing structures (scales, fin rays, otoliths), and identify, remove and preserve (where applicable) key internal and external body features.
Objective:
This course will train participants to conduct standard fisheries biological sampling, laboratory, and fish ageing procedures.
Prerequisites:
No formal prerequisites exist.
You Supply:
Suitable laboratory clothing. All course supplies will be provided.
