Les Swain, P. Eng.
Les is a professional engineer (P. Eng.) with more than 35 years experience in the field of water quality. He worked with the Province of Manitoba as well as B.C. Environment.
Les developed the current BC water quality index on which the national water quality index is based. He also developed the Rapid Assessment Approach for developing site-specific water quality guidelines. In recent years, Les has focused on passing on his knowledge by teaching courses on different aspects of water quality to international (Egyptian) students as well as students in B.C., Newfoundland, and other parts of Canada.
