Start your University Career off on the right foot! All new University students are urged to participate in VIU’s New Student Orientation Program on Thursday, August 30, 2012. Orientation is a great way for first-year students to meet classmates, faculty and staff, while being introduced to a full-range of available campus activities and resources.

Join us for an exciting and informative day where you will meet new students like you from your program area, meet your Dean and faculty from from your program area, and learn to navigate your new building(s) and campus!

As well, we want to ensure that parents/guardians have the information needed to support their student in making important academic and life choices.

Thursday August 30th, 2012

9:00am Check-in and registration

10:00am Orientation to the campus: Team activity

12:00pm BBQ for new students and parents with the President, VP's, Deans and Faculty and Staff at VIU

1:30pm "Block Party" with your Dean and Faculty

Evening (exact time dependent on dusk) Walk-in Movie

There will also be a hospitality tent throughout the day to answer your questions.

Cowichan Campus

Meet at the Welcome Centre at Cowichan Campus.

9:30am – 12:30pm

What to expect

  • New Student Orientation is open for new students in all programs at Cowichan Campus
  • Itinerary and information package pick up begins 10 minutes prior at the Welcome Centre
  • Fun and personalized campus tour that will allow you to become more familiar with VIU, Cowichan Campus
  • Opportunity to meet other students and faculty from your area of study
  • Interactive and engaging Info Fair
  • Pay your tuition, purchase textbooks and supplies, get your student photo ID card, or get yourself some brand-new VIU wear
  • Free BBQ lunch to follow

Parking

  • Parking is free at VIU’s Cowichan Campus
