1. Sign up for ROCK THE VIU New Student Orientation happening on August 29th, 2012 on our Nanaimo Campus and on August 28th, 2012 on our Cowichan Campus

2. Join our Facebook and Twitter sites so you can get regular updates

3. Book a Summer Warm-up Session and pick up your student card, sign up for your gym membership, tour the campus and more. Email studentambassador@viu.ca for more information

4. Check in with Financial Aid and Awards if you are applying for scholarships or a student loan

5. Stock up on:  Earbuds, Flip flops, Umbrellas, Dr. Pepper/Swedish Berries (or your sugar addiction of choice), Highlighters

6. Memorize your student #

7. Figure out if you need to opt out of the health & dental plan at the Students’ Union

8. Have a plan to keep in touch with your family

9. Make a health and wellness plan - check out Student Health 101

10. Learn how to do laundry

11. Make playlists of the best: pump up songs, study songs,  “I’m having a bad day and they make me happy” songs, and “they remind me of home” songs

12. Do a budget and make plans to stick to it
