Research & Scholarly Activity Funding

The Research and Scholarly Activity Committee recognizes that scholarly activity is important to academic excellence and is an essential component of the faculty workload. The Committee has three categories of awards to support scholarly research: a) release sections – available to regular faculty (awarded in the Fall only); b) research funding of up to $1,000 available to regular and temporary faculty (awarded both Fall and Spring); and c) funding of up to $1,000 for conference attendance for temporary faculty (awarded both Fall and Spring).

Eligibility

Release Sections: All regular VIUFA faculty (Applications for release time will only be considered in the fall)
Research Funding: All regular and temporary VIUFA faculty
Conference Attendance: Temporary VIUFA faculty only
Faculty must be employed by Vancouver Island University at the time of application.

Types of Projects

1. Study and research to the advancement of one’s discipline.
2. Conference travel for Temporary faculty.

This fund does NOT support curriculum development or institutional research.

• For the Fall deadline please use the Fall Application Form. (Release sections are only available in the fall)
• For the Spring deadline please use the Spring Application Form.

Accountability Required from Successful Applicants

Report submitted to committee at completion of project.
