In January 1999, Vancouver Island University President Richard
Johnston appointed five members from the University and
community to sit on the VIU Research Ethics Board.
Over the years, the board has grown to meet the increasing need for ethical
reviews of research involving human subjects. The Board is currently comprised
of 14 members, including one student representative.
