Graduate School Success Starts with Submitting a Strong Application!

When: Thursday, November 24, 2011 - 9:00 to 11:00a.m.
Where: the Institute for Coastal Research, building 305 room 458

Applying for Graduate School is the next big step for many students at Vancouver Island University, and it is never too soon to start strategizing for acceptance by your desired school or research supervisor. Join us for a discussion about:

  • choosing a graduate school;
  • choosing a graduate supervisor;
  • developing a graduate application and cover letter; and
  • building your CV to highlight the academic and research strengths that you will bring with you while engaged in graduate level studies.

Discussion panel will include: Dr. Erik Krogh, Chemistry; Dr. Cheryl Warsh, History; Joanne Schroeder, Management; Alexis Beaubier, Campus Career Centre; Dr. Kathleen Read, Librarian and recent PhD graduate; and one VIU graduate who is currently enrolled in a Masters program.

Refreshments will be provided. Hosted by the Research and Scholarly Activity Office and the Campus Career Centre.

SSHRC Student Scholarship Information Session

This is your opportunity to spend some time considering key strategies to undertake over the summer so that your winning proposal is in good shape for submission when the fall deadlines arrive.
