CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarships - Master's Awards

The Canada Graduate Scholarships Master's Awards administered by CIHR are intended to provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a Master's degree in a health related field in Canada. These candidates are expected to have an exceptionally high potential for future research achievement and productivity.

How to Apply:

All registered students at VIU wishing to apply are to complete and submit their full application to the Research & Scholarly Activity Office through ResearchNET by Thursday, January 7, 2010. You must submit hard copies of your transcripts and signature sheets to Kathryn Jepson at the Research Office by January 7th. DO NOT FORWARD ANY INFORMATION ONTO CIHR.

Your application will be reviewed by VIU's CIHR Scholarship/Awards Selection Committee. The Selection Committee has a quota to nominate one successful candidate to CIHR. This applicant will then compete nationally against other applicants that are selected by other universities. After VIU's selection process the successful candidate will be notified and the Research Office will submit the full application including hard copies of transcripts and signature sheets to CIHR.

 

If You Need Assistance:

Applicants are encouraged to seek out advice from faculty mentors in the preparation of their application (e.g., It is advisable to seek editorial help and direction when preparing the outline of your proposed research and justification of place of tenure). It is also advisable to contact potential graduate supervisors before submitting your application as this will aid in the justification of tenure. Again, faculty mentors can be of great help in suggesting potential supervisors and institutions in which to conduct your graduate work.
