Community Advisory Board

Psychological research addressing resilience has been found to be most efficient when a community-based approach is taken (Ungar, 2005). With this in mind, the Resilience Research Lab formed a Community Advisory Board with a focus on the following goals: (1) to understand resilience from the specific local community perspective; (2) to gain their expertise and knowledge such that it will inform future research projects and (3) to arrive at practical applications of the resilience research for the local community.

The Community Advisory Board consists of members from the local community, who work with children and families.  These include representatives from a variety of non-profit associations, public school system and private practice as listed below. This advisory committee meets on an as-needed basis to discuss what is going on in our community, what is working, what are the needs that are not being met, and also to discuss prevention.
