Educational Connections

Some students arrive a bit unfocussed or unsure on their academic feet, but with a little help are soon off and running with their academic responsibilities. Beyond instructional faculty, VIU has many people who are here to assist students in meeting their academic goals. Seek out and connect with faculty working in the Advising Center, International Education, ABE (Adult Basic Education) in Counseling Services as well as Degree Advisors in the various departments across campus. Also, make an effort to connect with program chairs, Librarians and Information Technology or IT personnel, and faculty teaching in the Math and Writing Centres in addition to taking advantage of the office hours of faculty teaching the classes that you are taking. Take advantage of the Student Success workshops that take place during the first half of the fall and spring semesters.

All of these people and resources are in place to help you succeed.
