Microsoft® Campus Agreement Work at Home Program

A Microsoft® Exchange web client that enables you to securely access your Microsoft Outlook mailbox from most computers with an Internet connection: http://webmail.viu.ca

Virtual Private Networking, or VPN, is a method for establishing a secure connection between a computer that is not on the campus network (e.g. your home computer) and the VIU campus network.

If you need to use VIU licensed software that is installed on your work computer, you can setup a remote desktop connection to it from home. Please see our webpage for more information. Remote Desktop Connection
The InVIU employee intranet can be accessed on or off campus at http://inviu.viu.ca

As part of our site license we are able to offer Symantec Anti-Virus software to faculty and staff for installation on their home computers.

Microsoft Work at Home Program
Through our Microsoft Campus Agreement we are able to offer Microsoft Windows 7 - 32 and 64 Bit versions, (Upgrade Version) and * Visual Studio Professional at reduced rates for purchase by Faculty and Staff to install on a personal computer. Microsoft Home Use Program
Microsoft Office, Office for MAC, and Project are now available through the Microsoft Home Use Program for faculty and staff - Capitan login required.
SharePoint Designer web editor is available as a free download.

VIU employees can apply for an interest free computer loan, offered through Financial Services. Applications are available online (pdf).
Are you a VIU employee and planning to buy a new home computer? Vancouver Island University participates in the Dell Member Purchase Program (pdf) which offers employees discounts on new Dell desktop computer, laptops and peripherals - Capitan login required.
Since Macintosh computers cannot be added to our domain, they are always 'off-campus' from a network point of view.
