Computer Name

Full Computer Name

For many requests, ITS requires the full computer name of the system. This information is useful to differentiate between computers in the same location, but more importantly many functions (such as software installs and troubleshooting) can be delivered remotely if the full computer name of the system is known. The format for the computer name is: XXX-XXX-XX.domain.mala.bc.ca, where XXX-XXX-XX is usually Building-Room-Computer number. The domain will either be Capitan or Discovery.

To find this information Right-Click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.
Click on the Computer Name tab.

Make note of the Full computer name.
