Blackberry Users

There is no desktop software required for your Blackberry, everything will sync wirelessly.  The only time it should be plugged in to your computer (with the USB cable) is to recharge. ITS recommends that you insert the USB cable into your work computer for on-campus recharging of your Blackberry and leave your power adapter at home for recharging. You should use the power cord to recharge your Blackberry at least once per week.

Accessing the Outlook Global Address List with your Blackberry

There are two ways to access the Global Address List (GAL) with your Blackberry. 

1.    When composing a new email

    • Open a new email
    • Start typing in the name of the person in the To or CC fields
    • If the name does not appear in the auto-complete list use your scroll button to highlight Lookup:
    • Press your scroll button in to start search
    • It will look up and display matching names in your Contacts and the GAL
    • Highlight the name you are looking for.  You will have a few options, two of which are to Continue (add the name to the TO or CC fields) or View (which will display most of the same information as the GAL – email, phone number)

2.    In the Address Book

    • Open the Address Book
    • In the Find: field start typing a name
    • If the name does not appear in the auto-complete list use your scroll button to highlight the [X matches] field
    • Press your scroll button in to see options
    • Select Lookup or View Lookup
    • It will look up and display matching names in your Contacts and the GAL
    • Highlight the name you are looking for.  You will have a few options, one of which is to View (which will display most of the same information as the GAL – email, phone number)
