Web Design Assistance

ITS can provide website design assistance for instructional purposes such as campus-related courses or those dealing solely with research. Such websites should clearly meet the definition of “instructional” and should not contain or replicate any potential marketing, electronic brochure or other non-specific program or course materials.

Those wishing to develop a website of a promotional or marketing nature, intended to attract an external non VIU audience, will be referred to the Communications and Public Relations department.

When requests are not clearly defined within these guidelines, the ITS Developer will meet with a representative from Media Relations and Marketing to determine which department would be best suited to the project.

Once the website design has been developed, the responsibility for the content and maintenance is left up to the faculty member. Any technical assistance, ongoing support or advice, will always be made available from the ITS staff.
