There have been a number of requests for information on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software program. In response, we've gathered information that we hope will be useful to you.

1.  SPSS Installations at VIU

Concurrent License

Copies are available under a concurrent package that permits a Nanaimo Campus employees to access this software at a given time. If you would like to use this software on your office computer please contact the IT Helpdesk by email (ithelp@viu.ca) or phone 753-3245, ext. 6300, and ask them to arrange this for you. The full SPSS software will not be installed on your computer, but rather IT will install the files that will enable you to access SPSS from the concurrent server.

Access via VPN

In order to access SPSS via VPN from home, a user would need to have the SPSS client already installed on their system. A user who has a VIU laptop with the SPSS client installed for use on campus, would be able to access the SPSS concurrent server from home once they have connected through VPN. The SPSS client can only be installed on VIU equipment.

Student Access Lab

A full version of SPSS version 13 is installed on all 21 computers in lab 356-340
