Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint is available on all workstations in VIU campus labs and on workstations in the Library and Malaspina Commons (except the Internet Access Stations.)

Create electronic "slide show" presentations with this easy-to-use package. PowerPoint lets you add text, graphics, sound, video and animations to a series of slides which may be projected on to a screen with a data projector. You can print your presentation in several formats, including the popular "handout" format (prints multiple slides per page.)

When using PowerPoint to create presentations, see these presentation tips, and be sure to use good file management practices to avoid losing your work to computer crashes, damaged floppy disks, etc. PowerPoint files are often too big to fit on floppy disks, so you may need to save to your Discovery account or alternative file storage medium. You may need a laptop and data projector to screen your presentation, if your classroom doesn't have one. You can book this equipment at the Equipment Loans Desk in the Library. You will need your instructor's signature on an authorization form in order to book the equipment. Book early and give yourself time to practice with the equipment!
