Where Your Dollars Go
In 2009 United Way Central & Northern Vancouver Island held three community consultations - in Ladysmith, Nanaimo and Parksville/Qualicum - the results of which were used to focus the funding of United Way into three impact areas: Healthy Children & Families, Engaged Youth and Supported Seniors.
Dollars raised in last year's campaign were invested into nearly 30 programs run by 24 organizations in 2011. These programs make up the fabric of our community. We're all touched by the services of these Community Partners. Families and their children grow up together with the resources available at the Boys & Girls Club, teenagers learn about leadership by mentoring in elementary schools through Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and seniors find their way out of lonliness or isolation with the support of Nanaimo Family Life. The United Way lives where we live.
