Level C

Vancouver Island University's Welding C program, part of the Provincial Welders’ Training Program, is designed to give you the preparation you’ll need to enter the welding trade.

Level C consists of one and one-half hours of classroom instruction each day, with the remainder of the day spent in practical learning. Classroom instruction covers the technical aspects of practical training as well as, safety, tool use, quality control, material handling, blueprint reading, and welding metallurgy.

Practical assignments to be completed for level C include:

  • Gas Cutting
  • Gas Welding and Braze Welding
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding
  • Carbon Arc Gouging
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding
  • Flux Core Arc
  • Lay Out and Fabrication

Students must complete seven months of the Level C Welding program and five months of on-the-job experience as a welder to before receiving Provincial Ministry "C" Level certification.

Graduates may choose to continue on to the Welding B program. Graduates may also continue into the 12 week Welder Fitter Program and receive a Welder Fitter Certificate.
