ELEC 201 Electrician - Level 1

This course covers all practical and theory components of Level 1 technical training. (0:0:30 for 10 weeks)

This course concentrates on using personal protection equipment (PPE), safety equipment, maintaining a safe work environment, and performing lock-out and tag-out procedures. Students will also use measuring and testing equipment. (15:0:15 for 2 weeks)

ELEF 111T Apply Circuit Concepts 1

This course studies electrical circuit concepts along with principles of electromagnetism and electronic circuits. ELEF 111T was formerly called ELEF 106T; credit will not be granted for both courses. (13.5:0:1.5 for 5 weeks)

ELEF 114T Organize Work/ Use Communication and Mentoring Techniques

This course concentrates on interpreting plans, drawings and specifications while using the Canadian Electrical Code(CEC). Students will also use mentoring techniques. (15:0:15 for 3 weeks)

ELEF 116T Install and Maintain Consumer/ Supply Services and Metering Equipment

In this course, the student will learn to install and maintain single-phase consumer/supply services and metering equipment. (15:0:15 for 1 weeks)

ELEF 118T Install and Maintain Protection Devices and Bonding, Grounding and Ground Fault Detection Systems

In this course, students will learn how to ground fault, arc fault and surge protect devices, along with installing grounding and bonding systems. (15:0:15 for 1 weeks)

ELEF 121T Apply Circuit Concepts 2

This course concentrates on analyzing DC circuits. Students will apply math concepts to solve for resistance, amperage, voltage and watts. ELEF 121T was formerly called ELEF 106T; credit will not be granted for both courses. (13.5:0:1.5 for 5 weeks)

ELEF 122T Install and Maintain Low Voltage Distribution Systems

This course will instruct the student on installing and maintaining low voltage distribution equipment. (15:0:15 for 2 weeks)

ELEF 124T Install and Maintain Raceways, Cables & Enclosures, and Branch Circuitry

This course will instruct the student on installing and maintaining conductors, cables, raceways, boxes, and fittings. (15:0:15 for 4 weeks)

ELEF 126T Install and Maintain Communication Systems

This course will instruct student on installing voice/data/video (VDV) systems. (15:0:15 for 1 weeks)

ELEF 141T Install & Maintain Electrical Components & Systems

This course concentrates on theory, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems; including branch circuits and voice/data/video (VDV) systems; single-phase consumer/supply services and metering equipment, low voltage distribution equipment, grounding and bonding systems, ground fault, arc fault, surge protection, conductors, cables, raceways, boxes and fittings. ELEF 141T was formerly called ELEF 116T,ELEF 118T,ELEF 122T,ELEF 124T,ELEF 126T; credit will not be granted for both courses. (4:0:10 for 20 weeks)

ELEF 151T Work Experience

This course provides a controlled work experience. Students are required to complete 2 weeks (40 hours/week), under the supervision of a licensed journeyperson, where they will be exposed to the electrical work environment. The work experience provides an opportunity to apply theory and skills learned in the classroom. (0:0:0 -80 for 2 weeks)
