Mature Student Placement

A small number of seats are available in first-year courses for mature students who may not have the strongest academic background, but otherwise show much promise in the field. Please note that mature students accepted by the Department of Creative Writing and Journalism must then apply for general admission to Vancouver Island University.

Anyone wishing consideration should submit to the Chair of Creative Writing & Journalism a portfolio of five pages maximum for each of the courses the candidate wishes to take: Journalism (CREW 100) , Poetry (CREW 110), Fiction (CREW 120), and Scriptwriting (CREW 140). For Fall semester courses, please submit by March 31st, for Spring semester courses by August 31st.
