Vancouver Island University’s Milner Gardens and Woodlands will be glowing with thousands of lights to brighten the holiday season starting this evening.
Milner Christmas Magic has become a popular holiday tradition with festive decorations, music, tasty treats and much more. Santa will also be making special guest appearances in Milner House which has been decorated in old-fashioned Christmas splendour.
A variety of local musicians will perform seasonal music from choral to instrumental during the 11-day festival on the scenic oceanside grounds south of Qualicum Beach. The Magic begins Friday, Dec. 3 with Every Voices and sing-along carolling.
Volunteers from Vancouver Island Regional Library are once again ready to delight children and parents alike with storytelling. Guess the number of teddy bears in the gardener's cottage to win a prize or bid on silent auction items. Gift shops are open with home-made jams made from fruits from the garden are among the many unique gift items for sale.
Admission is by donation with all proceeds going to support the garden. Although Milner Gardens and Woodlands are lit up, it’s suggested that visitors bring flashlights. Umbrellas may also come in handy.
The tea room is open but reservations are not being taken. A golf cart shuttle is available for those with mobility issues.
Milner Gardens and Woodlands is at 2179 West Island Highway, two kilometres south of Qualicum Beach. Christmas Magic hours are 5 pm to 8:30 pm Dec. 3- 5, Dec. 10-12 and Dec. 17- 21.
