Your teachers are hard at work getting ready for the fall semester, and you can expect to hear from each of them with specific course details by the time classes start. Changes to Parking 
Due to the uncertainty surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic, VIU is temporarily suspending the annual parking pass. A one-month pass will be the longest-term period available. The good news is it will mean reduced parking fees for all. Learn more.

Student Orientation Update

It’s not too late to sign up for our Rock VIU new student orientation event, happening August 31 to September 4 with a soft launch this week. International Student Orientation
International student orientation begins this Saturday (August 29) and is a great way to connect with other international students and learn about VIU services. More info

Athletics & Recreation Reopening
VIU Mariners Athletics and Recreation is reopening on Tuesday, September 8, under enhanced health and safety protocols. In this phase we will be open to students and staff only, with access to the weight room, student activities (outdoor recreation, intramurals, fitness) and our varsity athletes will be back on campus training. Learn more.

Accessing Study Areas on the Nanaimo Campus
A reminder that you need a student card to access study spaces such as the Library and the Upper Cafeteria this fall. Study spaces are only available for registered VIU students. Get your student card now.

Are you emailing someone about a VIU service or support? Anytime you reach out, please include your student ID number in the email and send the email from the official address listed on your Student Record to ensure our staff can help you quickly.

Mark Your Calendar

Wait List Deadlines
Tuesday, September 15 is the last day of active wait list for the fall semester courses. After this date, adding a course requires instructor permission, so be sure to check your Student Record multiple times before this date if you are on a wait list. Don’t miss important deadlines – bookmark VIU Registration’s Dates and Deadlines webpage!
