campVIU Athletics and Recreation Camps

campVIU is back for another amazing summer!
This year, VIU Mariners Athletics and Recreation are proud to offer 10 weeks of action packed summer camps for youth ages 5-18.
campVIU is bringing back Leadership Development, Mariners Multi-sport, Athlete Development and Shorts in Sports with some fun new twists.
Mariners in Training is excited to have another fun-filled summer of varsity camps.
Camps will focus on fun, fitness, and personal development for youth of all ages and abilities. Stay tuned for new camps being announced before summer.
Camps will run week long from June 29 to September 4 featuring a variety half and full day programs with pre- and post-care available for full day programs! Prepared lunch options is also offered to keep our young athletes fueled. Every camper will receive a campVIU T-shirt on their first day!

Marine Biology Summer Camp

This is a fun summer camp filled with hands-on marine science activities. Offered at VIU’s Deep Bay Marine Field Station in Bowser, each camp will be packed with adventures, experiments, scavenger hunts, crafts, games, boat trips and more. The Fishy Fun Camp for ages six to eight years old runs July 6 to 10 and August 10 to 14. The Oceans Adventures Camp for ages nine to 12 runs July 21 to 31 and August 24 to 28. Shoots with Roots Camps - Milner Gardens & Woodland

These camps are for children who love gardening, nature and the outdoors. Each day includes structured learning activities intended to deepen your child’s understanding of gardening or our local ecosystem. Volunteer mentors including local biologists, artists and master gardeners will help spark your child’s imagination and learning. There is plenty of time in the Children’s Food Garden including planting, harvesting, watering and sampling vegetables. A good portion of the day is also spent playing outdoor games and in unstructured forest play activities such as fort building and exploring. All programs are led by a certified BC teacher.

The Nanaimo Science and Sustainability Society (NS3), in partnership with Vancouver Island University (VIU) will offer fun science camps this summer! These camps will have high-quality science learning complete with experiments, demonstrations, games, hands-on activities, group challenges, ties to local science, and lots of fun!

Team Up with Genome BC to save the world - through SCIENCE!

Geneskool Summer Camps offer a unique opportunity for high school students to learn the molecular biology techniques that scientists use every day. Students will explore aspects of biotechnology, pathology, forensics, genetics, genomics and microbiology and use their new knowledge to stop an evil bio-terrorist from wreaking havoc on the world!


GrandKids University

Vancouver Island University has an amazing resource right on site - the faculty. They have experience teaching, expertise in their field, and a passion that they want to share with you and your grandchild this summer.

Join us for two days, earn a "degree" in one of the majors, and create lasting memories that will last a lifetime.  Do something out of the ordinary this summer - take your grandkids to university!


The High School at VIU Summer Camp

The High School at VIU welcomes international students to summer camp. Our camp takes place at The High School at VIU, located on the beautiful Nanaimo,BC campus of Vancouver Island University on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The camp is offered to students between 14 and 18 years of age. Camp begins on July 16 and ends on August 28. Participants may choose the length of their stay, from one to eight weeks. Accommodation for our program is provided by the VIU Homestay Department. Participants can expect to improve your English skills, learn about Canadian culture, experience life in Canada, make new friends from around the world, participate in field trips and recreation activities, and explore Nanaimo and Vancouver Island.
