The Casper Test - Post Baccalaureate (PB) Bachelor of Education Degree 

The Casper test application requirement 

All applicants to the Post Baccalaureate Elementary or Post Baccalaureate Secondary B.Ed. program must complete a 65 to 85 minute situational judgement assessment called Casper. Applicant results, along with grade point average, form part of the application screening process.

What is Casper? 

Casper is an online open response situational judgment test that allows applicants to demonstrate their social intelligence and professionalism by showing how they think, make decisions, and approach complex situations, such as those faced in the teaching profession. 

How to sign up for the Casper test

  1. Go to Acuity Insights sign up and create an account. Select Canada as the location.
  2. Register for Casper 2 Bachelor of Education – After Degree (CSP-10211) – English, 2026-2027 cycle test using a VIU student number and a piece of government-issued photo ID. 
  3. Register with the same email address used in the VIU application process and check it regularly, as there may be updates to the test schedule, etc.
  4. Select a suitable Casper test date from the available options listed. Plan carefully noting the test date, time and time zone. . Testing dates and times are limited with no exceptions for extensions. Available dates and times as posted on Acuity Insights are the only ones available for Fall 2027 Post Baccalaureate program application.
  5. Test registration must be completed at least three (3) days prior to a preferred test date to allow for identity verification and payment processing timelines. Last minute bookings are not recommended.
  6. Early test completion and receipt of results by VIU, along with all other required application documents, supports earlier review of program application 
  7. For test result distribution, Vancouver Island University, Bachelor of Education Post Baccalaureate must be selected. 

Technical requirements for Casper

To complete the test, the following is required:

  • A valid email address (the same one used to complete the VIU Application)
  • Desktop or laptop computer, ideally using Windows or macOS 
    • Smartphones and tablets (i.e. iPads) are not supported
  • Working webcam and microphone
    • Wired inputs or built in microphones and cameras are recommended
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection with download speeds of at least 1.5 Mbps and upload speeds of at least 2Mbps.

Test accommodations

  • Testing accommodations are available directly through Acuity Insights and need to be arranged at least four (4) weeks prior to a taking the test

Casper results

  • Casper results are sent directly to VIU two or three weeks after the testing date. 
  • Results are valid for one VIU admissions cycle only. 
  • Applicants who have taken a previous Casper test will need to retake it.
