AUTO 100 Automotive Apprenticeship Level 1

Course includes performance of safety-related functions; use of tools, equipment, documentation; communications and mentoring; diagnosis and repair of: driveline systems; electrical systems and components; steering, suspension, braking; control systems; tires, wheels, hubs, and wheel bearings; restraint systems; body components, accessories and trim; and diagnosis and repair of hybrid and electric vehicles.

Prerequisite: Admission to program.

AUTO 101 Auto Shop Safety

This course concentrates on personal and shop safety practices including a thorough understanding of WCB regulations, OHS regulations, fire safety procedures, WHMIS, personal protective equipment, shop emergency equipment and procedures, safe use of tools and equipment including hand, measuring, power and shop tools and equipment, MIG and Oxyacetylene welding. AUTO 101 was formerly called AUTO 123T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

AUTO 101T Auto Shop Safety (Ends Sep 2026)

AUTO 102T Tools, Equipment, and Documentation (Effective Sep 2026)

An overview of technician hand tools and their selection and use. Topics include measuring instruments, air and electric power tools, fasteners, maintenance of shop tools, diagnostic equipment and technical information, and operation of vehicle hoisting and lifting equipment. Safety procedures for welding equipment are also covered. Credit will only be granted for one of AUTO 102 or AUTO 102T.

AUTO 103T Communication and Mentoring (Ends Sep 2026)

This course covers effective communication techniques along with mentoring and coaching approaches and receptiveness to instructions and directions. Credit will only be granted for one of AUTO 103 or AUTO 103T.

AUTO 103T Braking Systems (Effective Sep 2026)

An overview of automotive brake system principles, operation, and design. Topics include diagnosis, service, and repair of drum and disc assemblies, hydraulic, vacuum-assisted, and hydro-boost systems. Students learn to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair braking systems following industry standards and safety practices. Credit will only be granted for one of AUTO 103 or AUTO 103T.

AUTO 104T Driveline Systems (Ends Sep 2026)

This course focuses on the servicing and repair of vehicle drivelines. AUTO 104T was formerly called AUTO 160T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

AUTO 104T Driveline Systems (Effective Sep 2026)

An overview of driveline operation, diagnosis, and repair. Topics include drive shaft and constant velocity (CV) axle shaft types, components, operating principles, inspection procedures, diagnostic testing, and component servicing. Students learn to describe, inspect, and service front-wheel and rear-wheel drive shaft assemblies safely and accurately. AUTO 104T was formerly called AUTO 160T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

AUTO 105T Electrical Systems and Components (Ends Sep 2026)

A study and practice of basic DC electrical systems, including terminology, theories, circuits and components, wiring diagrams, service and repair wiring; use electrical testing equipment and scan tools; diagnose and repair starting, charging and battery systems. Safety, tool usage, procedures and accuracy of results emphasized.

AUTO 105T Electrical Systems and Components (Effective Sep 2026)

An introduction to electrical theory and its application in automotive systems. Topics include Ohm's Law, circuit construction, wiring diagrams, circuit testing, troubleshooting techniques, and the diagnosis, service, and replacement of batteries. Students learn to interpret wiring diagrams, perform basic electrical tests, and service electrical systems safely.

AUTO 106T Steering, Suspension and Braking (Ends Sep 2026)

This course covers diagnosis and repair of steering and control systems; diagnosis and repair of suspension and control systems; diagnosis and repair of braking and control systems; diagnosis and repair of tires, wheels, hubs and wheel bearings. AUTO 106T was formerly called AUTO 137T; credit will not be granted for both courses. Credit will only be granted for one of AUTO 106 or AUTO 106T.

AUTO 106T Steering and Suspension Systems (Effective Sep 2026)

An overview of steering and suspension principles, diagnosis, service, and repair. Topics include frame types, suspension geometry and components, steering linkages and gears, power steering systems, and wheel alignment. Students learn to diagnose, service, and repair steering and suspension components according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards. AUTO 107T Restraint Systems and Body Components (Ends Sep 2026)

This course covers diagnosis and repair of vehicle restraint systems. Diagnosis and repair of wind noises, rattles, and water leaks; diagnosis and repair of interior and exterior components. Credit will only be granted for one of AUTO 107 or AUTO 107T.

AUTO 107T Body Components, Accessories, and Trim (Effective Sep 2026)

An overview of diagnosis and repair of wind noise, rattles, and water leaks. Topics include servicing interior and exterior components such as accessories, trim, latches, locks, regulators, sensors, switches, movable glass, and mirrors. Students use diagnostic tools such as smoke machines, chassis ears, and water hoses to resolve issues. Credit will only be granted for one of AUTO 107 or AUTO 107T.

AUTO 108 Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

This course covers the diagnosis and repair of hybrid and electric vehicles, including implementation of specific safety protocols for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Topics include high-voltage safety, battery technology, electric motors, charging systems, regenerative braking, and power electronics. Students learn to use service tools, interpret manufacturer information, and follow repair practices, with emphasis on safe handling of high-voltage components and system integration.

AUTO 109T Welding (Ends Sep 2026)

This course prepares students to use all shop, hand, and power tools and equipment appropriate to the automotive trade, including study and practice of basic oxyacetylene and MIG welding components, procedures and methods. AUTO 109T Work Experience (Effective Sep 2026)

A practical work placement in an approved automotive industry workplace. Under employer and instructor supervision, students apply technical knowledge and skills from the program. Emphasis is on employability, safe work practices, communication, teamwork, professionalism, and industry standards, while demonstrating competency in automotive repair and service. AUTO 109T was formerly called AUTO 132T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

AUTO 110T Engines

This course focuses on the servicing and repair of gasoline and diesel engines and engine systems, including equipment and shop safety. AUTO 110T was formerly called AUTO 147T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

A study and practice, preparing students to work productively in a shop environment. Includes identification and use of tools and other shop equipment.

AUTO 201 Automotive - Apprentice - Level 1

This course covers all practical and theory components of Level 1 technical training.

AGTA 100T Automotive Glass Technician

This course is the technical training for the Automotive Glass Technician Apprenticeship program. Topics include: perform safety related functions; use tools, equipment and supplies; organize work and use documentation; prepare vehicle; perform windshield repair; remove/repair and install components; remove and install glass/materials; prepare vehicle for delivery; perform troubleshooting procedures.

Prerequisite: Registered as an Automotive Glass Technician Apprentice with the Industry Training Authority.
